Scrum

Scrum is one of the approaches that allows you to build flexible (agile) processes in an organization. In particular, Scrum helps to establish and improve product development processes.

Scrum relies on cross-functional teams to deliver products and services in short cycles, allowing for: faster innovation; continuous improvement; quick adaptation to changes; more satisfied customers; accelerated pace from idea to implementation.

At its core, Scrum works by breaking down large products and services into smaller pieces that can be completed (and potentially released) by a cross-functional team in a short amount of time.

Scrum teams review each batch of functionality as it is completed and then tailor what is built next based on learning and feedback, minimizing risk and reducing waste. This cycle is repeated until a complete product or service is delivered that satisfies the needs of the customers because there is an opportunity in the business to adjust compliance at the end of each time period.

Scrum vs Agile: What's the difference?

The difference between Agile and Scrum is that Agile refers to a set of principles and values shared by multiple methodologies, processes, and practices; Scrum is one of several Agile frameworks that are the most popular.

Agile principles and values foster the mindset and skills that companies need to succeed in an unstable and turbulent environment. The term Agile was first used in the Agile Manifesto in 2001. Key principles of the Agile Manifesto:

People and interactions are more important than processes and tools

A working product is more important than comprehensive documentation

Cooperation with the customer is more important than negotiating the terms of the contract

Readiness for change is more important than following the original plan
